Lyndon Progress Center is a non-residential facility offering various services to the residents of both S.T.R.I.V.E. and Winning Wheels, as well as to citizens of the surrounding area.
Happy 20 Years Day Treatment!Beth Mathew, Day Treatment Coordinator, and Joyce Gladhill, LPN, started Winning Wheels' Day Treatment Program back in 1986 and are still at it today! They pose here with original program members who continue to participate in Day Treatment. Congratulations to everyone on 20 successful years!
Developmental Training ProgramThe Center is the location for the Winning Wheels Developmental Training Program. More than thirty Winning Wheels and S.T.R.I.V.E. residents currently attend this program.The Developmental Training program is operative on weekdays and enables persons served to acquire adaptive living skills through programming in such areas as consumer education, nutritional planning, interpersonal skills training and care attendant management.
Vocational Training ProgramThe Vocational Training program is coordinated in conjunction with the local community college and provides training in software applications. The computer lab at the Center is fully equipped and is specially adapted for the diverse needs of the physically disabled. The computer lab is also used for community Adult Education classes.Participants of the Vocational Training Program are an integral part of the operation of the Lyndon Progress Center Greenhouse. They are involved in the entire process from the planning stages, through the growing phase, to the selling experience.
Greenhouse
The Greenhouse located at the Lyndon Progress Center is a "hotbed" of activity. Day Treatment participants are busy this Spring filling soil cells with dirt and planting seeds. The Greenhouse is soon brimming with flower blossoms due to the hard work of everyone involved.
Some of the plants you might find in the Greenhouse include vegetables such as tomatoes and herbs such basil and sage. You'll also find flowers of many kinds, from alyssums to zinnias. Finally, the event everyone has looked forward to arrives! The LPC Greenhouse Plant Sale is a huge success each early May. This year we will be open on May 4th and 5th from 1pm to 5pm and on May 6th from 9am to 3pm. Hope to see you there . . . and bring a friend!
Employee Training ProgramsThe Lyndon Progress Center is also used for various continuing education seminars, including Advanced Nurse Aide Training, Resident Care Attendant Training and Habilitation Aide Training Programs for caregivers.Our training programs are approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and are conducted by certified instructors.
