AHE Employee Computer Usage Policy1. AHE information technology and telecommunications products, equipment, and services may not be used for activities other than approved business. AHE's Internet Usage Policy authorizes personal use of the Internet at de minimis expense to AHE, however some uses are strictly prohibited. Prohibitions include, but are not limited to: (a) using resources to earn outside income or for private gain; and (b) using resources for activities which are inappropriate or offensive to co-workers or the public, including accessing and/or transmitting sexually explicit materials or remarks. 2. AHE employees must not add, delete or change Windows system and configuration files used on the computer workstation or network operating system without prior authorization from the IT Coordinator. 3. AHE employees must store their data files on the network as opposed to the local computer hard drives, CDs, diskettes or flash drives for purposes of data retrieval and security. Exceptions include temporary files for viewing and files used for travel or telework. AHE employees must not create hidden or password-protected directories or files. 4. All passwords are maintained by the AHE IT Coordinator. Employees must not change their passwords that allow access to e-mail, network systems, and the Internet. AHE employees will log out of the network when leaving the workstation for more than a very brief break. Employees must not change any screensaver security settings made by the IT Coordinator. At the end of each workday, each employee will log out and shut off their PC, including any peripheral IT equipment. 5. AHE employees must not use our Internet access to log into and use personal e-mail accounts or commercial Instant Messaging (IM) services from AHE computers. Personal e-mail accounts and commercial Instant Messaging services include, but are not limited to, e-mail, webmail or IM services provided by private/commercial companies such as AOL, Prodigy, Microsoft, and Yahoo. 6. AHE employees must not use any AHE resources to participate in or pursue memberships in any Internet-based discussion groups, news groups, subscription services or similar activities without prior authorization from the facility Administrator or the IT Coordinator. 7. AHE employees must not bring personal software or equipment (computers, laptops, printers, etc.) from home or any other source to the facility. Exceptions may be authorized by the facility Administrator or IT Coordinator (e.g. Personal Digital Assistants PDAs, digital cameras, or cell phones). Any exception granted may not be connected to the PC or network without IT Coordinator involvement. 8. AHE employees must not install or download software programs onto the PC or network from any source, including software provided by vendors, the Internet, compact disks (CDs) or diskette. Software programs refer to applications or executable files either commercially available or free. This includes, but is not limited to, commercial software packages, shareware programs, unauthorized screen savers, free utilities, browser plug-ins, etc. 9. AHE employees must not provide their aheinc.biz e-mail account in any public communication. These include, but are not limited to, Ebay, PayPal, and e-mails requesting an e-mail address.
